Know how your devices connect
Some sensors connect to a smart hub, and the hub connects to your home network. Some suitable cameras and lights use Wi-Fi directly. These paths are different. Not every battery sensor needs its own Wi-Fi connection. We explain how your chosen devices connect and what each part of the setup needs.
Check where you need a connection
A phone working well in one room does not prove that a camera elsewhere has a good connection. Walls, distance and router positions matter. We check the areas where you want to use devices before suggesting changes. A router move or suitable network equipment may help, depending on what is causing the problem.
Your home network and internet are different
The home network connects devices around your house. The internet connection helps supported features work when you are away. Some actions may work inside the home without internet, but that depends on the setup. Changing your router cannot promise that your internet provider’s service will always be available.
Test devices in their real positions
Check cameras and smart devices where they will actually be used. Ask which features need internet and which have been tested without it. Keep network passwords out of enquiry messages.
